Frequently asked questions
What is AI-MathTutor.com?
AI-MathTutor.com is a math-focused educational platform in development that combines illustrated math lessons, practice questions and an AI tutor named Ava. Our focus is helping learners understand the steps behind each answer.
How does Ava’s interactive voice tutoring work?
In the development classroom, an authorized administrator can connect to Ava, ask questions by microphone or type a message. Ava receives the current lesson context. The voice connection is installed; microphone timing and interruption behavior are still being tested across devices.
What can Ava show on the whiteboard?
Ava can display supported math equations one step at a time, highlight an earlier step and draw supported linear or quadratic graphs. You can also open a saved lesson example, type your own working or write with a pointer or touch input. Handwriting stays on your device; Ava receives typed working during the conversation.
Which subjects are included?
The development classroom still contains earlier grade 10 math, English and biology samples. Our planned math catalog includes Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus, Statistics, PSAT Math and SAT Math. A catalog option is not a completed course.
How do practice questions and quizzes work?
Courses can include guided and independent practice, chapter quizzes and a final quiz. The saved course Controls determine question counts, with at least ten questions in a chapter quiz and a page-based ratio for longer courses. Multiple-choice responses use an answer key. Written responses currently show a model answer for self-checking rather than an automatic grade.
Will every lesson have illustrations?
The course format supports a relevant, colorful teaching diagram on every page. Continued worked examples keep the same problem visible across its steps. The admin readiness checklist flags missing or invalid illustrations.
Can lessons be read aloud?
The classroom supports saved Ava narration with Play, Pause and Stop controls. Recordings must be generated and added to a lesson before playback is available. Saved recordings can be replayed without generating the same narration again.
Can I use AI-MathTutor.com with my family or school today?
Public enrollment is not open yet. The classroom is currently restricted to the authorized development administrator. Families and schools can contact us about the project and future availability. Student accounts, parent and school dashboards, and billing are still in development.
How are accuracy and originality checked?
Course creation uses writing instructions, structural checks and a separate AI review where available. The readiness checklist checks saved content and highlights gaps. Adult review is still required for correctness, age suitability, privacy, accessibility and source use. External plagiarism checking is not connected, and an AI-generated answer is not a guarantee of correctness.
Can an administrator build a course from a PDF?
Yes. The admin Import / Build workflow supports PDF and text sources and structured course packages. Source-based generation uses the connected AI service. Imported and generated courses remain drafts for review; uploading a file does not make it ready for students automatically.
